  • 'TOP END' ENGINE INSPECTION: MIN 25 HOURS ASSUMES DELIVERY OF VEHICLE COMPLETE AND LABOR REQUIRED TO REMOVE ENGINE FROM VEHICLE, INSTALL ON STAND IN WORKSHOP, UNDRESS, INSPECT FOR KNOWN FAILURE ITEMS SUCH AS CAM PHASER HARDWARE, 991.1 GT3 FINGER FOLLOWER SCORING, ETC.  AND REINSTALL IN VEHICLE. ADDITIONAL LABOR OF 10 HOURS REQUIRED FOR CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL FOR REBUILD PURSPOSES, FURTHER INSPECTION OF BORE SCORING OR TO GAUGE WHETHER OEM ALLUSIL CYLINDERS ARE OUT OF ROUND.   
  • 991.1 GT3 'FINGER FOLLOWER' REPAIR: ASSUMES DELIVERY OF VEHICLE COMPLETE AND LABOR REQUIRED TO REMOVE ENGINE FROM VEHICLE, INSTALL ON STAND IN WORKSHOP, UNDRESS, INSPECT FOR METAL FATIGUE / SCORING OF FINGER FOLLOWERS AND CAM SHAFTS, ANALYZE POSITION OF CAM PHASER HARDWARE IN PHASER BORES, REASSEMBLE  AND REINSTALL IN VEHICLE WITH ALL NEW PARTS FROM PORSCHE AG WITH ADDITIONAL PREVENTATIVE DLC COATINGS AND ALTERNATE ENGINE OIL.   • COMPLETE ENGINE REBUILD: MIN 65 HOURS THE SCOPE OF A COMPLETE ENGINE REBUILD VARIES BASED ON INITIAL INSPECTION.  ASSUMING NONE OF THE AFOREMENTIONED ISSUES, A STANDARD REBUILD FEATURES NEW RINGS, CHAINS, GUIDES, SEALS, GASKETS, OIL COOLER (IF NEED BE), OIL PUMP, COIL PACKS, PLUGS, CAM PHASERS, SOLENOIDS AND ANY UPDATED COMPONENTS FOR ANY KNOWN CONCERNS.  THIS ASSUMES FULL TEAR DOWN TO THE CRANK SHAFT TO ACHIEVE SPLITTING OF THE CASE HALVES AND REMOVAL OF EVERY SINGLE BOLT, FASTENER AND COMPONENT. REMINDER: CONDITION OF CYLINDERS WILL DICTATE REQUIREMENT FOR NEW CASE HALVES OR BOTTOM END.  LABOR ESTIMATE ASSUMES STANDARD TEARDOWN AND ASSEMBLY - EXTRAORDINARY DAMAGE / WEAR & TEAR FOUND UPON INSPECTION MAY AFFECT ESTIMATE.

    • NIKASIL REPLATE TO OEM 3.8L DISPLACEMENT: CALL FOR PRICING - REQUIRES CYLINDER REBORE TO FACTORY 102MM DIAMETER AND NIKASIL PLATING AND THEREFORE AN ALTERNATE PISTON AND RING PACKAGE. IDEAL FOR SOMEONE IN A SPEC RACING CLASS WHERE ENGINE MODIFICATION IS NOT PERMITTED AND FACTORY SPECS MUST BE MAINTAINED.

CYLINDER HEAD UPGRADES:

GIVEN THE AFOREMENTIONED DISPLACEMENT LIMIT WE EXHAUST ALL EFFORTS IN THE FORM OF BOLT-ON UPGRADES IN ORDER TO TRY AND MAKE THE MOST POWER AND TORQUE POSSIBLE WITHOUT SACRIFICING RELIABILITY.  THOSE OPTIONAL UPGRADES ARE:

  • X51 CNC PORTED CYLINDER HEADS : WE RECOMMEND A FRESHENING OF THE CYLINDER HEAD IN CONJUNCTION WITH ANY MAJOR ENGINE OVERHEAUL; IT FEATURES NEW X51 HIGHER RPM VALVE SPRINGS AND HARDWARE.  WE INCREASE THE FACTORY INTAKE PORT MATCH FURTHER TO ACHIEVE A FULL COMPUTER GENERATED OVERHAUL AND PRODUCE A REPEATABLE CYLINDER HEAD FOR YOUR 'AIR PUMP' THAT FLOWS AS EFFICIENTLY AS POSSIBLE IN THE SAME WAY EVERY TIME. 

  • X51 INTAKE CAM SHAFTSTHE ALTERNATE 991.1 X51 GTS POWER KIT INTAKE CAM SHAFT CONTRIBUTES TO AN INCREASE OF 30 MECHANINCAL HORSEPOWER AT THE CRANK; WITH LITTLE IMPROVEMENT TO TORQUE, ABOVE 5K RPM ADDITIONAL MECHANICAL HORSEPOWER CAN BE ACHEIVED.

  • 718 GT4 CLUBSPORT INTAKE MANIFOLD: THE PORSCHE MOTORSPORT 718 INTAKE MANIFOLD IS WORTH AN ADDITIONAL 30RWHP OVER 7K RPM VS. A CAR RUNNING THE STOCK 981 GT4 INTAKE MANIFOLD WITH SMALLER INTAKE RUNNERS.  WHILE THE 981 INTAKE DOES MAKE SUBSTANTIAL TORQUE UP TO 6000 RPM, IT COMES AT THE SACRIFICE OF USABLE HORSEPOWER AT THE TOP OF THE RPM RANGE.  IT IS FOR THIS REASON WE RECOMMEND AN INTAKE MANIFOLD UPGRADE FOR ALL NON 9A2 ENGINES.  

  • REVISED CAM PHASER HARDWARENEARLY ALL 9A1 ENGINES ARE SUBJECT TO FAILURE OF THE CAM PHASER FASTENERS THAT COMES AS A RESULT OF EXCESSIVE CHANGES IN INTERTIA OCCURING ToO THE VALVE TRAIN.  MORE SPECIFICALLY, THE BORES FOR THESE FASTENERS ARE TOO LARGE FOR THE OEM HARDWARE - WE MANDATE REVISING THIS HARDWARE ANY CHANCE WE GET BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO BE THE SINGLE BIGGEST REASON FOR FAILURE ON THESE ENGINES.
